5 Healthy Snack Time Favorites
With kids, I think it’s a given: there will be snacking. As much as I–as an adult–would love to be a breakfast, lunch and dinner type of gal, it’s just not really plausible when you’re on the go, working and/or constantly feeding little ones throughout the day.
The positive thing is that snacking is good fuel and it doesn’t have to mean eating unhealthy. Personally, when I think of snack, I think of the want to indulge in something like chips or sweets, but fortunately, there are ways to still feel like you’re indulging in a snack and be fueling your body in a healthy way at the same time.
Here are just a few “indulgent,” delicious and healthy snacks that I prefer for myself and little ones.
Terra Chips A much healthier version of chips made from slices of vegetables–sweet potato, parsnip, etc–and probably my favorite snack, even “chips,” hands down.
Ruby Rocket’s Veggie & Fruit Pops No added sugar is what, to me, makes this snack the absolute best. It’s all veggies and fruits. There are three kinds that I absolutely LOVE: Galaxy Green, Rock-it Red and Gravity Grape. A cool, refreshing treat on a hot day.

Rice crackers & Organic Valley Raw Milk Cheese Rice crackers and cheese are my favorite go-to for a bedtime snack if I just ate too early or stayed up too late and can’t shake the ‘need a snack’ thought as I’m tossing and turning. Protein is proven to be a helpful aid to sleep and raw milk cheese is that protein for me before bed if I need something to snack on.
Dark chocolate super bites These are just heavenly goodness. Anytime I’m craving sweets or chocolate in general, I feel more than comfortable whipping these up and enjoying. These super bites often double as dessert, as well. and are probably one of my kids’ absolute favorite.

Edit: I had to add a fifth favorite that had completely slipped my mind until so many commented and mentioned it!
Hummus or Guacamole Amazing and healthy. I try to do these dips with veggies like carrots, celery and cucumbers, primarily, but hummus is also SO good with naan and guacamole with homemade tortilla chips.
Disclosure: I received one of the products mentioned above for free with the hope that I would mention it on my blog. I only recommend products or services I believe will be good for my readers and that I consistently use or believe in, personally.
I love terra chips! I never buy them anymore since I would eat the whole bag before my kids could have any! ha!
We love plantain chips too! And hummus! yum!
Omgosh, yes to hummus and carrots! I should’ve added that, too! I may amend this post now :).
Ok, you got me at the dark chocolate super bites! They look so pretty, like jewels on a disc of chocolate. I may have to give these a try! 🙂
They are SO good. And normally when I follow recipes that look awesome, mine never turn out or look as great, but mine actually looked just as awesome, too!
I love Terra Chips! I don’t get them too often because I have a tendency to eat the whole bag in one sitting…my favorite are the mixed root veggie ones. So good! Dark chocolate is high on my list of healthy snack options. I like 85-90% cacao. Most people don’t think it is sweet enough but I like how satisfying just a little piece is.
I completely agree with both—I have to stop myself from eating the whole bag and 85% cacao is my favorite. It’s what I use every time I make those!
I serve hummus with red pepper strips, jicoma strips, as well as carrots. I just discovered Sweet Potato chips, too.
Yum!
I discovered a fudgicle made out of coconut milk and cocoa powder. More of a dessert, but delicious, especially on hot days. And healthy!
That sounds absolutely wonderful! Coconut and cocoa are two of my favorites!
Anything chocolate sounds good. Does your dark chocolate solve a sweet tooth craving? I try to be good and eat some fruit when I’m craving sweets. But if I have chocolate in the house, I eat it all!
Yes, the dark chocolate is my go-to for sweet cravings and works well for me! Fruit just doesn’t always cut it.
Great snack ideas. I haven’t tried Terra Chips, but from your post and all the comments, I definitely will try them now. 🙂
So good! I recommend the original kind!
Terra chips are my favorite! I’ve never heard of the fruit and veggie pops-sounds like a good idea though! Hummus is a staple in our house. And now I really want to try those chocolate things-they look delicious!
The fruit/veggie pops are wonderful + healthy + the kids think they’re like dessert, so it’s a win all around. Guac is probably our biggest staple because we use it for both snacks and meal sides! Def try the dark choc bites—they’re SO good.
